Carlos Melendez, B.A.

Biographical Summary

Carlos Melendez received a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Spanish Literature with minors in Global Poverty and Latin American Studies from The University of Maryland, College Park in May 2020. He is a member of the NIH Academy Enrichment Program and joined the lab in September 2020. Previously he was a research assistant for the Maryland ADHD Program where he examined the influence of language on parent emotion socialization. Carlos is currently working on the COVID-19 Pandemic’s Influence on Alcohol study. His research interests include the interaction between substance use disorders and psychopathology in addition to the development and augmentation of sustainable evidence-based community interventions to address mental health disparities.  After his time at NIH, Carlos plans to pursue a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology.
