Sleep disruptions are commonly observed during alcohol abstinence and manifest as a decrease in sleep. Accumulating evidence suggests that alterations in dopamine neurotransmission may contribute to these sleep disruptions. Thus, my research focuses on dopamine regulation of sleep/wake activity and sleep disruptions during alcohol abstinence.
