Postdoctoral Fellow

Lulu Wu, Ph.D.

Biographical Summary

Dr. Wu joined NIAAA in December of 2024 as a Postdoctoral Fellow. She received her PhD degree in 2022 in Psychology from State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning, Beijing Normal University. She studied in the Department of Psychiatry in Yale as a jointly trained PHD candidate from 2020 to 2021. She worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuroscience Institute of NYU Medical School from 2023 to 2024. She has been focusing on studying reward processing, particularly the interplay between rewards and negative valence system from multiple perspectives (executive-control, reinforcement learning, neuroeconomics/decision-making) in individuals with addictions and depression, using techniques including EEG, fMRI, tDCS and TMS. Dr. Wu is currently working on a clinical trial to examine clinical effects and neural mechanisms of TMS (TBS particularly) intervention for AUD. She is also working on a project to examine common and distinct neural mechanisms underlying impulsivity and compulsivity in AUD.
