Amira Ahamed joined the Clinical NeuroImaging Research Core in July of 2023 after graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in International Development. During their time as an undergraduate student, they worked on qualitative research focused on analyzing themes of alcohol usage and adverse childhood experiences among three generations of sexual minorities.

Outside of research, Amira is passionate about promoting the health of individuals and communities impacted by drug use through harm-reduction centered outreach and care. After completing their time at NIH, Amira plans to pursue a career in Psychiatry with a focus on addiction and adolescent care.
