Biographical Summary

Dr. Sarah Maggio is a Health Scientist Administrator for the Medications Development Branch (MDB), within the Division of Treatment ant Recovery, at the National Institutes of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). The MDB supports the development and evaluation of promising, safe, and effective medications for alcohol use disorder (AUD), with the goal of improving the care and treatment of those affected by AUD. Prior to joining NIAAA, Dr. Maggio managed multi-disciplinary research programs for the National Institute on Aging’s intramural Center for Alzheimer's and Related Dementias and the Psychological Health & Resilience Portfolio within the Military Operational Medicine Research Program under the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command. Dr. Maggio received her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychopharmacology from the University of Kentucky.
