Biographical Summary

Caitlin Cross-Barnet, Ph.D., is Social Science Research Analyst at the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation in the Research and Evaluation Group. Dr. Cross-Barnet earned her PhD in sociology from Johns Hopkins with a concentration in social inequality. She entered federal service at the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in 2012. Her main projects have included Strong Start, the Health Care Innovation Awards, and the current Integrated Care for Kids and Maternal Opioid Misuse models. Her interests include maternal-child health, substance abuse, preventive care and health equity. Dr. Cross-Barnet’s research has been published in Women’s Health Issues, Maternal and Child Health Journal, Health Services Research, and Health Affairs, among others.
